Raya Divers
We are Raya Divers, Thai-Finnish-New Zealand owned Dive Center located in 5 different holiday destinations in Southern Thailand. We have a long history of diving in Thailand starting almost 20 years ago. Officially Raya Divers was formed in 2000 at Raya Yai island. Later our operation has expanded to other destinations like Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak and Koh Lanta.
Our main objective is to offer YOU unforgettable memories in this beautiful far-away country, in one of the best diving areas of the world!
Here is a short description of our foreign owners:
JANNE MIIKKULAINEN
The Managing Director of Raya Divers, 34-years old Janne Miikkulainen started diving back in 1991. He was trained at the Finnish Navy to search for underwater mines and after that he went to Greece to work as a diving instructor. From Greece he ended up to Thailand were he met Garry Halpin who later became his partner. For couple years he was diving summer times in Greece and winter times in Thailand. At the start of 2000 he decided to move permanently to Thailand and formed Raya Divers together with Garry. Since that he has been living in Thailand.
JANI MÄKINEN
The other Finnish owner, 32-years old Jani Makinen joined Raya Divers in 2000 when he arrived to Thailand from Bali. Jani use to do all kinds of extreme sports but now he has retired from the most of those and is more into the diving world. The first couple years in Thailand he was actively conducting dive trips and now he is more tasks are more concentrated into the sales / staff education.
GARRY HALPIN 
Garry is from New Zealand and he is 46 years old. He arrived to Thailand already more than 20 years while travelling around Asia. He found untouchable Raya Yai Island and was the first foreigner who made his way to the top of the cliffs and build a restaurant there. Later on he made couple bungalows and started the first dive center of Raya Yai island. Garry is mostly responsible of marketing of the company.
INSTRUCTORS AND DIVEMASTERS
Raya Divers dive team is a combination of Thai, Finnish, Swedish and other foreign diving professionals. Due to various nationalities we can teach scuba diving in many different languages.
