”I first started in Raya Divers team in the fall of 2006 on Raya Yai Island, from where I transferred to Phuket’s team in the fall of 2007. For the season for 2009-2010 I worked as the operative manager of our Phuket center, which gave a great foundation for the future position for the dive center manager which I begun in the summer of 2010. Because of the great variety of excursions and amount of clientele, there is a need for a lot of staff. This makes Phuket busiest of all the Raya Divers centers. The best thing in Phuket is that this lively destination brings many challenges; to be able to make this carousel go round and round. To see a satisfied customer in the end of the day makes it all worth it and gives positive energy for the next day. It’s really rewarding to see, how much people enjoy our excursions. Each day is a new adventure and that’s exactly how I like it. Once we begin to do something, we’ll do it full force! When you put your heart into it, the clients can feel it as well, which enables them to enjoy the day to the fullest. Phuket is a paradise, which for a holiday maker as well as a member of the Raya team is a good place to be. Welcome!”

MANAGER LAURI MÄKELÄ

”I’ve been working for Raya Divers since 2007, when my career first took off in Khao Lak as the instructor with the checkered shorts. From Khao Lak I moved on to Raya Yai during the same season, doing the same job and even wearing the same shorts. In 2009 I took a step back from instructor’s duties and took on the responsibilities of a manager. I still, however, instruct and teach courses as well as lead dives for certified divers. This brings nice variety to my job. The best thing about Raya Yai is definitely the fact that here peacefulness, flexibility of timetables and variety of possibilities all come together. Raya Yai can be called a diving school with good merits, since here you have the chance to start diving and learning from the beginning all the way to a professional level according to your own schedule. There are also many options for diving; the more traditional sites as well as more special and uncommon ones. There is always the possibility to go diving, regardless of the time of the day or the year. This brings certain challenges but also makes it very rewarding. “If something is worth doing, it should be done 110%” and “Rolling stone gathers no moss” proverbs combined provide a good mix managing the days of a dive center. MANAGER MIKKO RAUHANEN

”I started in the Raya Divers team in the fall of 2007 in Khao Lak and a couple of months later transferred to Raya Yai to work as a “beach boy”. First touch of the duties of a manager I already got while working on the island. Two years later I returned to Raya Divers team in Khao Lak and the following fall stepped into the boots of a dive center manager. The gems of Khao Lak are definitely its pristine beaches, restaurants and the relaxed atmosphere. Big part of this atmosphere is also brought by the staff of the other dive centers and of course the picture perfect Similan Islands. A good example of the seamless teamwork of our team is my motto “once you go to run errands, the boys will follow”. Pack up your equipment and head to Khao Lak – we’re here!”

MANAGER JARI LAANIO

”I started my career in Raya Divers in the fall of 2010 as a divemaster. In the following fall when the longtime manager of our Krabi dive center, Kirsi, decided to return to Finland I transferred to Krabi to keep the herd in check and took the reigns with the fiery attitude people from Turku possess. The thing about Krabi is, that we get to work in beautiful natural conditions with a fantastic team. In customer service and managing a busy office I like to keep in mind that one should treat others as they themselves want to be treated.”
