Diving in Phuket – how to get there

As Phuket has been a favorite holiday destination for a long time now, it’s easy to get there.

Summary about easy ways to get there below

Package tours:

Tour operators of almost all countries have package tours to Phuket. It’s the easiest and often the cheapest way to have 1-3 weeks holiday in Phuket. So look up the package offers your local travel agencies have.

Individual trips by plane:

You can book by internet or through travel agents for most flights to Phuket. It’s possible to fly through Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with your luggage checked in all the way till you arrive in Phuket.

The other possibility is to book your flights to arrive in Bangkok and then buy a domestic flight to Phuket from the Bangkok airport. There are a lot of local airlines (Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Phuket Air, Andaman Air, 1-2 Go, Nok Air, Air Asia) and with flights departing almost every hour. The smaller airlines often have special offers and so this option can save you some money on your domestic flights. The bad side is that you have to take your luggage in Bangkok and go by foot or taxi to the Domestic terminal. On arrival in Phuket take a taxi or minibus from the airport to your chosen Phuket beach.

If you like, we will be happy to book a hotel for you and/or organize your airport transfers to Phuket. We do not book flights.

Individual trips by plane/bus:

You can book through the internet or a travel agency for your flights to Bangkok. On arrival in Bangkok take a taxi to southern bus terminal. Or if you will be spending some time in Bangkok, you can book your bus tickets to Phuket from a local travel agency.

We recommend VIP buses, which are air conditioned (it’s really cold in the buses, so take something warm to wear with you). There are several departures a day and the trip takes from 12 to 14 hours. On arrival to the Phuket Bus Station, take a tuk-tuk or local bus to your chosen hotel.
If you like, we can arrange your hotel booking and/or transfer from the bus station for you. We do not make bookings for flight or bus tickets.

From other Raya Divers destinations (Krabi, Khao Lak, Raya Yai):

From Krabi or Khao Lak you can take either a local bus (cheap but slow), minibus (little bit more expensive, but much faster) or an air conditioned taxi ordered from Raya Divers (the costliest but fastest option) to Phuket. The easiest way to buy bus tickets is from local travel agencies. The Daily speedboat and also the Raya Divers Dive boats leave from Raya Island everyday about 3.00pm to return to Phuket.
