Diving in Koh Lanta – How to get there?
Koh Lanta is accessible by boat or by car (by car you island hop using 2 ferries).
Easiest ways to get there below
Package Tours:
Most of the tour operators have ready made packages for having 1-2 weeks holiday in Koh Lanta. It’s the easiest way to travel and often also the cheapest option.
Individual trips by plane:
You can make a reservation for plane tickets by the internet or from any travel agency direct to Krabi or Phuket airports (From Krabi airport to Koh Lanta is about 2 hours, from Phuket airport it is about 5 hours). If you book all your flights beforehand, your luggage will be checked-in all the way to Krabi or Phuket airport. The other option is to book a flight arriving to Bangkok and buy a domestic flight to Krabi from the airport. There are a lot of local airlines (Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Phuket Air, Andaman Air, 1-2 Go, Nok Air & Air Asia) which will take you either to Krabi or Phuket, from where you can take a taxi or a minibus to Koh Lanta. The smaller airlines often have special offers, and it is possible to save a lot of money on domestic flights. The bad side being, that you have to take your luggage in Bangkok and change to the Domestic terminal. We will be happy to take care of your hotel bookings and/or transfers in Koh Lanta. We do not handle flight bookings though.
From other Raya Divers destinations (Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak, Raya Yai):
From Phuket or Krabi you can travel to Koh Lanta by the local ferry boats. Just book your boat ticket from any travel agency. When traveling from Phuket all boats stop at Phi Phi islands on the way to Koh Lanta. Check with your travel agent that your boat is an express boat as some of the boats are slower and make other stops around Phi Phi island.
From Khao Lak you can take a local bus (cheap but slow), minibus (little bit more expensive, but much faster) or air conditioned taxi ordered from Raya Divers (the costliest but fastest option) to Krabi. The easiest way to buy bus tickets is from local travel agencies. The daily speedboat from Raya Island leaves about 15.00 to Phuket, so you can continue on the same day by local bus, minibus or taxi to Koh Lanta. Another option is to stay 1 night in Phuket and then take a ferry the next morning to Koh Lanta.
