The artificial lake of Khao Sok- looking for the underwater city continues

Purpose of the project:
Because of more exact research we were much better prepared for the two day exploring trip. We took a compressor with us, to be able to fill the tanks between dives, efficient lights and different searching equipment: as ropes, buoys and so on. As a base we used a small village that was built on bamboo rafts.

Details of the dive:
To do a more efficient search, we had a bigger team with us. We had with us: Janne, Jani, Adam, deep-dive specialist Mark Ellyatt, Sami Suominen, Tuomo Vauhkonen and an English diver Simon Gabaree. The conditions were excellent and after two dives we found a riverbed which dropped from 40 to 60 meters. (We had learned earlier from local elderly people that this was the place where the village had been situated)

After finding a wooden fence, we knew that we must me close to our destination. We had been lucky the whole day-and then the bad luck stepped in. The compressor, what had just been serviced, started leaking so badly that it was impossible to fix it. So we had to interrupt our trip. Our team got a good feeling about the results of this trip, so we are planning a new one there. We could have returned there in next days, if Mark were not to go to England and Janne, Jani and Supa were not to go on a holiday to the Philippines… After the summer’s monsoon rains, the team will return to find this destination we have dreamed about.
